Herbal cancer treatments comprise a number of alternative treatments in the fight against cancer. There is also a great deal of debate and controversy within the medical community. According to an article by Irene Alleger the use of herbal treatments for cancer has been so thoroughly suppressed that the US office of Alternative Medicine (OAM) that was created to investigate promising alternative treatments seems unable to look at herbal treatments for cancer without bias. She uses an example of Harry Hoxsey who in the 1950's ran 17 clinics nationwide using an herbal formula with apparent success. The AMA (American Medical Association) tried for years to shut him down, with little success. Although Hoxsey wasn't an MD many people attest to the efficacy of his formula for curing cancer.
'Herbs Against Cancer', a book written by Ralph W. Moss, PhD, sets out to meticulously research material on the major herbs which have been used in the successful incidents of herbal cancer treatment. Another good book to reference is Ingrid Naiman's book, 'Cancer Salves: A Botanical Approach to Treatment'. The treatments spoken of are breast tumors and skin cancers but they have also been used successfully for a wide variety of other malignancies including pancreatic, liver and kidney cancer. Derivative treatments can be used for uterine-cervix and brain cancer.
